We the people … of Australia
Foundation 1901 Limited (ABN 40602317117) exists to garner understanding and ideas with all Australians about Australia’s federal structure and governance. It seeks an enduring presence in the future of Australian federalism as an apolitical home of respectful discussion and debate.
Foundation 1901 is a non-partisan, independent not-for-profit charity registered with the Australian Charities and Not-for-profits Commission (ACNC) and we are specifically named as a deductible gift recipient in the Income Tax Assessment Act 1997. Our status can also be viewed at www.abn.business.gov.au (Link to ACNC F1901 specific link). The Foundation is located in the north-east region of Victoria within the federal electorate of Indi. The electorate of Indi is an original ‘federation seat’ established in 1901 and is called for the aboriginal name for the Murray River.
The first member for Indi was Sir Isaac Isaacs who held the seat between 1901 -1906 and later became Chief Justice of the High Court of Australia and then the first Australian-born Governor-General of Australia.
